Upper Secondary (Year 10 - Year 13)The Upper Secondary curriculum at St Austin's Academy offers breadth and balance to provide challenges and opportunities for students, preparing them for the finest national and international universities. The Academy offers programmes leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), Advanced Subsidiary (AS-Level) and Advanced Level (A-Level) qualifications offered by the University of Cambridge.
Students are prepared for a wide range of subjects. Mathematics and English Language are compulsory and students then choose an additional six subjects. The current list of subjects is: Kiswahili, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Sociology, Business Studies, Accounts, Additional Mathematics, Art and Design, Computer Studies Physical Education.
English as a Second Language (ESL)Our linguistics department assists
students who require help in the learning of English language.
Since the Academy caters for more than 42 different nationalities
from around the world, we often get to know how English speakers
who benefit greatly from this program. The assistance continues
until the students are ready to move into regular classrooms
successfully. Advanced Level ProgramThe program is done in two years, years 12 and 13. This guarantees students entry into universities all around the world, as british A Level qualifications are widely recognised.
Year 12 is a general year and introduces students to A-Level's academic demands. It caters both for students who have come from IGCSE and for those who have entered the programme directly. Students opt for four or five subjects, leading to St Austin's, AS-Level and A-Level qualifications. Year 13 is a specialist year. Students will have selected three subjects from their Year 12 programme for A-Level examinations and now focus on them in depth.
