Lower Secondary (Year 7 - Year 9)

The St Austin's Academy Lower Secondary covers the time of adolescence, which marks the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood.Lower Secondary bridges the gap between the Primary and Upper Secondary, taking students from a controlled, relatively peaceful rhythm to an apparently frenetic pace, controlled and focused by examinations and the need to enter the appropriate university.

 

In terms of the curriculum and pedagogically, the programme is delivered through Skills-based learning. Lessons are student-centred and experiential, and students learn through discovery and participative activities, but with a greater emphasis on the Content and Topic areas. The following subjects are offered: English, Languages (Kiswahili and French), Humanities, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts (Art and Design, Drama, Music and Information Communication Technology {ICT}), Physical Education, and, Personal Social and Health Education {PSHE}
